‘Black Box’ and the Years of Confrontation (Part 4): Headlines against oblivion in Abdelrehim Aly’s library
In the previous episode, we briefly reviewed some of the titles of books that were issued by journalist and expert in the affairs of Islamist groups Abdelrehim Aly, which were revealing shots in the dark night of what is being plotted against the Egyptian state by terrorist groups. In fact, I am surprised by some of those who shorten people’s lives into a mere sentence, whether in rejection or acceptance, forgetting that in order to pass your judgment on a person or even something, you must first have sufficient information and the culture and awareness to say your opinion without demolition, preclusion, or claiming idealism. Without that, it is unacceptable to put yourself in the position of passing judgment. Let us from move from this ultras mentality that has interfered in all the details of our lives, and come with us to conclude the impact for what will remain, which is to put your name on a book, and the library of Abdelrehim Aly is full of this impact and legacy.
7- “Osama bin Laden: The Ghost America Created”
After the attacks of September 11, 2001, which represented a severe blow to the pride and security of the United States, Osama bin Laden became the most famous name in the entire world. He became a source of panic and terror for some, while in the eyes of others, he became associated with admiration and appreciation. The whole world was busy answering the questions: Who is bin Laden? What are his justifications for this unprecedented terrorist operation?
Questions were raised about how Osama bin Laden transformed from an ally of the United States in the early 1980s to enemy number one after only ten years.
The book attempts to answer these questions and seeks to review the backgrounds of the events and people, beginning by recounting the biography of the man.
8- “Scenarios before the Collapse”
The book deals with a number of hot, explosive and sensitive issues at the political and intellectual levels in the Middle East. From the inflamed conflict in Sudan to the issue of the future of Iraq after Saddam Hussein, and its insight into the dialogue of the Palestinian resistance factions in Cairo, the author deals in part of his book with the issue of Islamic thought and the attempt to save Islam from its captors, meaning violent terrorist groups, and their practices and ideological and jurisprudential visions, as well as the position on the concepts of jihad and victory and the position on non-Muslims. He also deals with why Muslims feel persecuted and how Islamic visions contribute to the thesis of global civilization on these questions.
9- “Al-Qaeda: From the Organization to the Network”
The author asserts that al-Qaeda has gone beyond what is common and known about ideological organizations, which requires a strategic vision that goes beyond reaction. This prompted the author to provide a briefing about al-Qaeda's beginnings and paths and the main stations in its history. The book concludes with an appendix on the most prominent violations and attacks adopted by al-Qaeda or attributed to it, including about 30 major operations from the beginning of 1993 until August 2005.
10- “Alliance of Terrorism: Al-Qaeda from Abdullah Azzam to Ayman Al-Zawahiri”
The book is the first of four parts dealing with monitoring and analysis of the course of al-Qaeda since the precursors of its founding by Abdullah Azzam in the first phase of Al-Qaeda to help persecuted Muslims anywhere in the world, according to Azzam’s vision, where the first step was taken in May 1986. Then the second phase for al-Qaeda came with the Gulf War and the Gulf states’ help from the Americans to end Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait, where Osama bin Laden emerged by establishing al-Qaeda camps. As for the third phase, in which al-Qaeda adopted the fight against the Americans everywhere, it came through the establishment of the global front to fight the Jews and the Americans in February 1998. As for the fourth phase of al-Qaeda, during which it moved to globalism through Ayman al-Zawahiri’s visions by dividing the world into two alliances: the first is the terrorist alliance led by al-Qaeda and the membership of all jihadist movements and Muslim citizens who agree to this vision, and the second is the alliance of enemies led by America and with it all the infidel forces, including the Jews, Christians, Russians and tyrant rulers.
11- “Exposing the Lie”
The idea of this book is based on opening the mysterious and silent files of the Brotherhood in an attempt to get public opinion to know the group’s true face. It represents a valuable contribution that helps to inform about a group that has tried as hard as it can for more than ninety years to surround its ideas, movement and goals with a lot of ambiguity in an attempt to deceive public opinion according to the concepts of “delusion of speech for the interest” and lying to enemies as an obligation, while only they knew the truth and repeated it openly and without equivocation within their organizational frameworks.
